For Xian Studio C stylist Stephen Mendelson created longer and soft layers around the perimeter with a strong fringe that is cut back fairly deep. The overall cut is very shattered and shaggy feeling.

To style the hair is blow-dried with a Denman brush for soft control on her fine yet stick straight hair. Next Stephen worked over the top with Control Paste by Aveda, which gave the right amount of control and luster for these long and luxurious locks.

Camille’s naturally curly hair is quite a handful to deal with each morning. To give her a more refined look, “Tigerlights” or highlights are applied for soft accents and depth within the curl pattern. Over the top a coppery red brown translucent color seals in a rich tone all over.

To tame the “wild child” curls into softer waves, the wet hair is applied with Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam and Sculpting Lotion before hood drying. Soft finger waves are created on top while the balance is loop curled on a large barreled iron for larger bends and waves.

Pon International stylist and hair extension specialist Jaime Queenin takes Sandra’s mid length bob to ravishing new lengths. Using the Great Lengths technique, she applies both length and volume with approximately 250 strands of 100% human hair extensions. Because the extensions are authentic human hair (versus synthetic), they can be colored or permed and thermal styling tools can be used just like with one’s own natural hair.  In this case, Sanrda’s extensions are customized to match her existing color, which is a soft blonde on top and a light brown for depth underneath.

The introduction of color can make all the difference in the world to a finished look. For Brenda, Mike Christianson of Pon International in Anaheim Hills, California started by razor cutting long layers and texturizing deep into the hair to remove bulk and give a more shattered effect. For the color he introduced a rich and dark brown base then took random vertical slices in a halo section high around the head, prelightened and applied a vibrant cool red. This instilled richness to her natural color but gave a fun edge with the vibrant red that accentuates the texture of the cut.

To style a straight look, volumizing tonic is applied at the root before blow-drying with a large round brush. Once dry, the strands are flat ironed on the mid shaft to the ends, then a medium hold aerosol is dusted over the top.

A series of twisted sections, Zulu knots and large barrel rolls make for a unique upstyle.

Take small horizontal sections in front and vertical sections in back, twisting them tight to the head while directing the sections back towards the crown. After being pinned in at the top of the head, the ends are left sprigging outward for a plume-like effect.

Get The Look: To style, flat iron and smooth gloss drops over the surface for the ultimate shine.

Peek-a-boo panels of soft blonde against a rich black base. The cut is done using channeling to scoop out vertical layers and break through the otherwise solid shape.

Wild curls are offset by a series of dimensional golden tones.

To style, a leave-in conditioner wixed with shine serum is worked through the hair before diffuse drying.
