Session stylist and salon owner Victor Paul, and his ultra talented team at Victor Paul Salon in Costa Mesa, California, are delivering some sizzling-hot looks for the season ahead! Aptly named Outside the Box, this collection of edgy masculine looks offers a new way of thinking when it comes to hairstyles for men.
Steven Skyler, the actor best known for his role as Antonio on Power Rangers Samurai, has turned singer/ musician and flaunts an edgy hairstyle with versatile length on top. Stylist Victor Paul created this look by doing disconnected horseshoe sectioning on top and flat short layers underneath. Steven’s look offers a mod but undone vibe with a thoroughly masculine edge - Perfect for rock’n out with his namesake alternative band.
To style, Oribe Royal Blowout was worked through before flat wrapping the hair against the shape of the head in various directions using a paddle brush. Oribe Apres Beach Shine Spray was misted over the top to finish and texture, definition and shine.
For a roughed-up wet look, Victor added Oribe Smooth Style Serum to dry strands, created a center part and finger-styled the hair into place.

Sporting an ultra-short, traditional barber fade, international model BraylenBrooks sports a cut done using a #000 clipper guard fading into #1 ¼ on top. A strong hairline was carved with a zero guard leaving a very runway, but clean finish. Using a soft bristled Mason Pearson brush, stylist Victor Paul (of Victor Paul Salon) smoothed the hair into place, taming any natural texture as the hair dried.

A classic Americana look was done starting with simple square layersfor Slade Smiley, a familiar face from Bravo’s Real Housewives of Orange County. A perfect look for all ages, stylist Victor Paul rough-dried using just his fingers to direct the hair and then worked through a small amount of Oribe Fiber Groom for added texture and dimension.

For James, Victor Paul Salon stylist Randall Jones cut a very tight fade on the sides and back using a #00000 clipper and worked up to a #2 for length on top and then blended with scissor over comb cutting. This top-heavy length was very heavily texturized while the ultra-short sides blended into a barely there, almost stubble-like sideburns and beard.
Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray was applied to towel dry hair and then a small amount Rock Hard Gel was worked through for control. While blow-drying with a paddle brush and a round brush in some areas to control his natural texture, the hair was directed upward. Once dry, Rough Luxury Soft Molding Paste and ENJOY Dry Wax were used to finger style the hair into place, pinching and twisting sections for a versatile spike-like finish.

Starting with very fine highlights through his natural hair color, stylist Ginger Lee West cut and created a modernized Pomp for Jonathan. The cut is shears-over-comb on the sides and back, with length left long on top, which was heavily texturized. A small amount of Oribe Rock Hard Gel was applied before blow-drying with a round brush to help control the natural texture while coaxing lift. Once dry, Ginger worked through Oribe Fiber Groom and then finished with Oribe Super Fine hairspray.

A modern spin on the retro greaser, Aryn Marie Hogan (of Victor Paul Salon) cut a Mohawk shape and blended it into a contemporized ducktail For Abe. ENJOY Volumizing Mousse was applied on towel-dried hair before blow-drying with a small round brush to help control the natural texture while coaxing volume. Oribe Fiber Groom was worked through for shine and texture and then ENJOY Hair Spray was misted over the top for hold.
