Color and extension specialist S. Monaé Everett of BUBBLES Salons on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. started with her very dark brown color then blow-dried her hair with a mix of Paul Mitchell Sculpting Foam and Smoothing Serum using a paddle brush. After flat ironing, she added extensions and blended them into her natural hair to give a longer appearance on the sides and to add the gold blonde color.

Stylist and Hair Extension Specialist, Jaime Queenin added mainly length to Shawnae’s naturally fine strands. The real human hair extensions were designed to work with her existing blonde and brown color but take the length to the next level. To blend with her natural hair, Jaime shattered the ends and sliced back through the added length.

Gretchen’s long, lovely locks feature diagonal forward layers with long, swooping bangs. To create this pinned up look, first Enjoy Conditioning Spray was applied to help with detangling and then Volumizing Mouse was worked into the root for lift. Thermal Spray was misted on all over to add hold as well as thermal protection. Victor blow-dried the hair straight using a large round brush for control. Once completely dry, he took small sections and curled each around a one-inch iron leaving a tighter, bouncy coil.

Stylist Nicole Martin weaved this natural chestnut brown hair with a deep blue-red and a deep red highlight and then added a clear gloss over the top for shine. A walnut-size amount of Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity volumizing texturizer liquid and Hair Resort strong hold texurizer were worked through her damp hair before blow-drying with a paddle brush. Three-inch wide panels of dry hair were pressed with a three-barrel iron all the way down each section leaving a rippled texture all the way through her strands.

This cut involves long layers with long fringe around the face and sides. Her color is a rich chestnut brown with copper and honey blonde highlights added for dimension.

Sculpting foam is applied all over while root boost is used at the base. After rough-drying, the hair is set in small hot rollers along with a working spray and allowed to cool. Each roller is undone, lightly applied with pomade and pinned up into an Intertwining upstyle. The crown is built upward while the sides are tight to the head. A medium hold spray allows for long lasting hold.
