Shoulder Length

AGSS-06-00374

This classic shoulder length cut by Katrina Halliwell of Alexander’s Grand Salon & Spa has low layers for movement, a very long, heavy bang and a slight A-line quality overall. Her color is a warm honey chestnut with creamy blonde highlights done as a partial weave.

To style, a root lift is applied at the scalp while a straightening balm and gloss are cocktailed together and worked through her damp hair. After blow-drying with a round brush for volume, pomade is used to piece and add texture, then a strong hold spray is applied to finish.

This sultry shoulder length cut by Angelica Cosoi of Alexander’s Grand Salon & Spa features longer layers and a heavy side swept bang. The color is a dimensional beigey blonde with champagne highlights and a combination of warm and cool blonde low lights.

Smoothing lotion is cocktailed with an oil-based gloss and worked through the hair from the roots to the ends. After blow-drying with a round brush for volume, a light working spray is applied over the surface. Finishing wax is then used to lightly piece.

For Tiffani Studio C stylist and salon owner Leonard Castro created a look where the cut and the color work hand in hand to allow the most depth and dimension.  Darker brown panels underneath instill depth while the lighter and very fine gold, amber and bronze pieces on the top show the disconnection and texture in the cut.

Leonard pin curled the hair using B Curly by Aveda to create a highly textured finish. Once the hair is set he undid the curls and worked back through, piecing with Defining Whip to create a soft, yet volumous feel.

For an updated 70’s look a very modern set of layers and lots of soft volume offers most of the movement around the perimeter with full, yet soft fringe. To create a fuller style, blow dry with a large round brush, then set the hair on large rollers to instill a soft and feminine volume with flowing movement.

For those who desire to spice up their look a bit, splashes of a more vibrant color can awaken their wild side. Starting with a natural very dark brown, Tracy created big bites of a very vibrant red that peek out from the interior of her naturally dark hair. A very fun look without changing the overall color.

This classic bob has very bold and modern Cleopatra bangs. Channel cutting was done for an inside-out form of layering, which creates movement and fluidity to the overall style. To style this fringy feel, stylist Sergio Andrioli blow-dried the hair with a paddle brush after adding an aggressive root lift. Next he flat ironed for control, then applied a medium hold spray for a clean and fresh textured finish.

Wanting more style to Donna’s precious length, Pon International stylist Alcie Villoria-Fajardo texturizes her hair with shears in random, freehand sections all over. The ends are heavily texturized for even more movement.

Starting on a medium brown base, a golden brown panel is applied to the back mid section while small back to back slices in a golden blonde hue are taken within the front panel. For the maximum depth, thin dark warm brown low lights are placed on top.

This shoulder length shaggy shape involves dynamic and dimensional color along with a highly texture cut. To create this depth, highlights were added with three different blonde tones from dark to light along with a warm copper brown. These chunky slices are hand painted for a less structured placement.
