Ksenia did some experimenting with her color. Her hair was previously applied with a black and green-based henna, which stained the cuticle, making it impossible to lift back out. Luckily two years of growth made the ends the only area that was still affected. The rest of the hair was brown with gold highlights. Her length was to the middle of her back with some very short and not so flattering layers.

Stylist Shawna Petersen of PON International took off 4 inches on the bottom to clean up the perimeter and remove the grown out stain. She blended the layers to soften the look overall and allow the hair to lay better.

For the color, she applied back to back foils all over and removed or lifted the black and brown. Next, she went back over and toned the underneath a cinnamon brown and added low lights and a golden tone to the top. Her end result is soft golden blonde with a rich block of brown underneath.

To style, Goldwell Nice Balance leave in conditioner was applied all over, Double Boost root lift was used at the crown and PON International Turn It Up was sprayed in all over. After blow-drying with a large round brush to smooth underneath and add volume on top, working spray and a one-inch iron was used to curl large sections, which was all rolled back away from the face. Once the entire head was done, Shawna worked back through the curls to undo with her fingers and applied Da Flex spray over the surface for hold.
