Haircolor Forecast

As seasons change, so too do the trends for haircolor. Traditionally a lightening effect takes place in the spring through the summer and then hues darken up, even cool down in the fall and hit their depths in the winter. These days the reality with haircolor is that pretty much anything goes. Hair, specifically color for hair, has become a canvas for expressing one's individuality and personal sense of style. Yet, still we look to the horizon to forecast what's coming. To stay a step ahead of what will be new and exciting in the world of hair and how it will evolve to accessorize our ultimate fashion statement.

On the lighter side in the days ahead, look for a continuation of platinum blondes, bright white blonde, silver blondes, and metallic silvery grays. Bold shades that defy the seasons and turn heads at the same time. Consider a darker, even cooler root for depth and add a dash of pastel to break up the solidness.

For reds, intensity steps up a notch with vibrant and multi-tonal shades that make a powerful statement. From cooler hues broken up with pops of warmth to reds with a thread of shimmery gold running through, this color range is not for the faint of heart. And for those who love the lighter side, strawberry blondes carry over with contrast at the root and even hints of berry tones to mix things up.

For brunettes, there is definitely a richening up that takes place as seasons start to cool. On the natural side, espresso browns are accented with highs of caramel with yet more depth at the root for dimension. Look for the freehand placement of highlights and an overall warmth that nicely accents textured finishes.

For those who prefer the fashion color palette, go deep and slightly violet at the root and transition into lighter tones through the ends with accents of blue, teal or purple. Warm bases, however, work well for pops of warm red and brighter orange. If you prefer a muted finishes, go for a deep silvery gray foundation and add slight pops through the length of any fashion color you desire.

When it comes to color placement, the sky is the limit. Balayage or freehand color will remain on scene for many more seasons but don't be afraid to venture out further and try something new. Break up solid shapes with unusual, even geometric placement to spice things up. Not willing to make this kind of commitment but love the boldness? Consider using stencils and adding colored powder over sleek styles for a temporary color fix.
