Shoulder Length

Sarah has square cut shoulder length layers by Nicole Ankenman of The David Salon with blunt face-framing fringe. Her natural red color was enhanced to a golden red base with a very fine weave of copper gold highlights and medium copper low lights all over.

For a smooth style, her damp hair was applied with volumizing lotion all over while root lift was used just at the base or scalp. After blow-drying upside down, the dry hair was flat ironed from the roots to the ends. A light amount of backcombing was done at the crown then a dusting of hairspray created the perfect finish.

Shannon Cornwell of Fantastic Sams in Upland, California cleaned up Salena’s hairstyle by flipping the color around from light on top and dark underneath to all dark with peek-a-boo panels of blond and red. For the cut Shannon created a highly shattered edge with face-framing layers. A hint of volume at the crown helped exaggerate the shape while piece-y bits give a shard-like finish.

Bette’s dull, dark brown hair has a natural wave that tends to frizz. For a new look, Jesiuania Flores of Fantastic Sams in Barstow, California started with the color. She applied a medium brown base all over and then added soft highlights for a dimensional light golden brown hue. Low layering was done to remove some of the weight and create a better shape. To style, straightening balm was applied onto her damp hair before blow-drying two-inch sections with a round brush.

Carmen Higareda of Fantastic Sams, Corona, California took Audrey’s color to another dimension with soft caramel panels through her dark brown base. After cleaning up her long layers, she added swoopy bangs that blend into the sides. A round brush was used to blow the hair dry, while pulling up on top for volume. Once dry, one-inch sections were smoothed with a flat iron for a sleek finish. Shine serum was applied onto Carmen’s hands before rubbing her palms over the surface of the hair to smooth down any frizz.

Hello Wave

Soft flared-outward waves give Taraji P. Henson's shoulder length hairstyle a casual, lived-in feeling.

To get this look (with naturally curly hair), apply smoothing balm and blow dry sections smooth using a large round brush. Mist vertical sections with working spray and curl around a medium curling iron rolling hair away from your face. Once all sections are curled, run a large toothed comb through to coax hair into place and then mist with finishing spray and shine spray.

Fringe Topped

Taraji P. Henson's bold fringe tops these big flirty curls, with smoothness on top.

To get this look (with naturally curly hair), apply smoothing balm mixed with a few drops of shine serum, comb through for even distribution and blow dry sections smooth using a large round brush. Mist the ends with working spray and curl around a large curling iron. Once all sections are curled, apply shine serum on your hands and detail each curl as needed to add seperation. Last, mist with finishing spray.

Longer layers and a smooth rolled under finish complete this teen friendly style.

Apply a lightweight styling lotion on damp hair and then use a round brush while blow-drying hair in sections. Roll the brush several times to bend the ends under. Add a few drops of shine serum onto your hands and smooth your palms over the surface to take away any stray hairs.

Large bends roll through the length of this long layered hairstyle.

Mist dry sections of hair with working spray and wrap just the ends around a medium curling iron. Hold in place a few second to set a curl and then release. Continue until the ends of all sections are curled and then run a wide-toothed comb through to creates rolling waves. Mist with finishing spray to hold.

Longer layers add subtle movement through the length of this shoulder-touching style.

Apply smoothing balm mixed with a few drops of shine serum onto damp hair and comb through to distribute evenly. Blow-dry in sections with a large round brush. Smooth a flat iron over the ends and then use a dab of pomade to pinch and twist the ends to detail.
