Nina Dobrev flaunts a messy side braid that is perfect for most any occasion. Although there are many types of braids that would look great as a low, side plait (fishtail, classic three-strand, etc), this youthful, casually textured style is an undone version of a rope braid.
The key to this look is to begin with loose waves and a tousled finish. Start off with already dry hair that has a bit of volume on top and add a light mist of working spray all over. Curl larger sections of hair around a medium curling iron, holding the iron in place a few seconds to set the curl. Continue with all sections, alternating curl direction back and forth untill all hair is curled. Run your fingers through the hair to break up the sections, mist with textre spray and tousle.
Now that the hair is prepped, create a loose side part and sweep hair to one side. Divide the hair in half and twist the first section several times. Repeat with the other section, twisting the hair in the same direction. Now twist the two sections together but go in the opposite direction than the sibsections are twisted. Contune twisting, allowing shorter layers to naturall fall out, until you reach the ends. In this case Nina stpped a couple of inches shy of the ends. Secure ends with a small elastic band.
Pull on the sides of the braid a bit all the way down the length to loosen it up and to add texture as desired. Mist with a light hold finishing spray to keep it all together! Such perfection!
