Oribe Styles Men's Fashion Week

The educators at Oribe Hair Care were on hand to create many of the hairstyles for this year's Men's New York Fashion Week. Here’s a  recap of some the shows and the hair that helped complete the look.

David Naman

Italian brand David Naman made a grand U.S. debut at New York Fashion Week. Balancing a look inspired by wealthy Hampton’s living and glamorous Ibiza style, Christian paired embellished graphic bomber jackets and skinny utility trousers with matte, voluminous hair.

Get the Look:

1.     Prep the hair with Foundation Mist.

2.     Apply Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse at the base for lifted volume.

3.     Use Matte Waves Texture Lotion on the ends.

4.     Power dry with a blow dryer to create texture and fullness.

5.     Break the look back down to a grittier style.

David Hart

This year David Hart presented a more youthful take on his usual thematic presentation and tailored clothes. David drew inspiration from the bright palette of the ‘70s and the West Coast surf culture of the ‘60s. Lead hairstylist Kien, who has been working with the designer for seven seasons, kept the hair slightly greasy, for a beachy bedhead. Kien left the diverse cast, featuring afros and long hair, looking like they’ve lived on the beach for a week.

Get the Look:

1.     Enhance natural textures with Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream mixed with Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil.

2.     Use fingers to style natural waves.

3.     Spray Dry Texturizing Spray to set the roots.

4.     Place final touches using Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray to create a lived-in look.

Men's Wood House

Wood House designer Julian Woodhouse is a Manager in the U.S. Army who designs his men’s collection in his spare time. This collection was created for the effortlessly confident man, with an emphasis on the importance of classic styling and functionality. Louis emulated this parity with a masculine hairstyle featuring a strong, slightly feminine wave.

Get the Look:

1.     Prep the hair with Maximista Thickening Spray.

2.     Apply Rock Hard Gel with a tint brush at the roots to create strength.

3.     Put the finger wave into place.

4.     Slick down back and sides with Star Glow Styling Wax.

David Hart X Hart Schaffner Marx (HSM)

In a special David Hart-Hart Schaffner & Marx collaboration, the designer along with the 130-year-old tailored menswear company achieved an aristocratic, polished gentleman's collection for their spring/summer 2017 presentation. Kien—who envisioned this style worn by the type of man who takes the time to get every hair perfectly in place—styled a pulled-back coif for a seamless pairing with the upscale garments.

Get the Look:

1.     Prep with Foundation Mist.

2.     Apply Rough Luxury Molding wax and blow dry.

3.     Use a flat iron to lightly smooth the hair.

4.     Spray Superfine Strong Hair Spray at the root and blow dry, directing back with a comb.

5.     Use Rough Luxury Molding Wax and tuck remaining hair behind the ears.

Plac

Plac, a brand based in South Korea, has built a huge American following since their debut on the New York Men’s circuit two years ago. For the spring collection, designer Jae Wan Park created “a gentleman’s summer wardrobe” that was influenced by ‘60s silhouettes. Nathan referenced American painter David Hockney and Jack Kerouac to create a more modern, beatnik, bohemian style.

Get the Look:

1.     Apply Foundation Mist to the palm then comb through the hair.

2.     Emulsify a pearl-size amount of Crème for Style in the hands, then apply to the hair.

3.     Blow dry on medium heat with a vent brush to create a slight lift enhancing the natural texture of the hair.

4.     Apply Dry Texturizing Spray on the roots to achieve necessary volume.

5.     Finish the hair with Soft Dry Conditioner Spray to soften the ends.

Max N’ Chester

Designer Peter Trainor successfully created a look that gives “the vibe of feeling comfortable 24/7 with a worn in look.” Transporting everyone to the ideal beach vacation, the collection was inspired by Cuba’s casual elegance and tropical, modern culture. Dan matched this laid-back style with an easy textured curl.

Get the Look:

1.     Prep the hair with Foundation Mist and Crème for Style to create structure and memory.

2.     Use Curl Mousse, Curl Gloss Hydration & Hold and Curl Control Silkening Crème to enhance natural curls.

3.     Pin random curls, diffuse, cool and remove pins to create texture variety.

4.     Finish with Après Beach Wave and Shine Spray at the roots and Dry Texturizing Spray at mid shaft to create contrast.
