A Colorado native, Matthew Morris began his career as a makeup artist. With high demand for his celebrated work, it was only natural for Matthew to make his transition into hair styling. With a background in sculpture, design, and detail, Matthew found his favorite medium in beauty. Known for being a quick-change artist, Matthew has the ability to morph clients and models into endless looks with ease. He quickly rose to the top of his game.
With a deep understanding of classic beauty, technical excellence, and healthy hair, it was only natural for the world renown luxury brand, Kerastase, to find Matthew to be their perfect match. By helping pave wave for Kerastase to provide advanced education in salons across the world, Matthew collaborated with the company and the Kerastase T.E.C.H team was created, Matthew being the Artistic Director. Matthew sees designing hair as an art form, an inspiration for individuality. He is an artist, a designer, a talent, a visionary. Kerastase chose Matthew for those reasons, where he now has the unique opportunity to institute new techniques for artists. As of this year, he is enthralled with the idea of being able to inspire on a global level. Matthew doesn’t choose to do it alone; he thrives on the collaboration between creative minds.
Fashion is the arena where Matthew is most seen. He has been recognized as the North American Hairstyling Awards winner for the Men’s Hairstylist of the Year award, as well as former Editorial Stylist of the Year winner. His work has been seen in Vogue, Elle, InStyle, Allure, Modern Salon, Modern Salon, China, Launchpad and publications in Italy, Australia, and Germany.
Whether leading a team or being a part of one, Matthew has been a staple stylist for over 35 seasons backstage at New York Fashion Week for designers such as Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Alexander Wang, Rodarte, Diane Von Furstenberg, and most recently led his own team for Thomas Wylde. In the past few years he has worked with Orlando Pita and his team at New York Fashion Week where he has styled Kendal Jenner, and the launch of VERSACE for H&M in New York, and three years in a row styling backstage for the Victoria’s Secret Runway Show where he had the honor of styling the beautiful angels Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio and Candice Swanepoel. Matthew has also styled the gorgeous talented, Idina Menzel, Rosario Dawson, Paris Hilton, and the Scissors Sisters. His expertise and style visions have established him in the industry as a true innovator and made him a popular choice among celebrities and designers.
America Fell in love with Matthew after he starred on the hit reality show, Bravo's Shear Genius during its third season, but his real achievements he credits himself for are the rare opportunities he had working with the most talented artists and designers in the industry who continue to inspire him. Matthew is the driving force in the fashion and beauty industry, and will continue to influence these artistries in new innovative directions.
Matthew resides in the heart of Denver, where he owns several salons including locations on South Broadway, in the new River north Art District, RiNo, and coming soon, Bellview.
